2005 RESIDENTS COMPETITION
The first annual residents oral presentation competition is history. It is anticipated that additional interest and participation from all the graduate prosthodontic programs in our geographic area will result. This year it was a clean sweep for the University of Washington participants. First place was awarded to Dr. Michael P. Waliszewski. Michael received his DDS degree from Marquette University School of Dentistry in 2002 and is scheduled to complete his MSD degree and certificate in prosthodontics from the University of Washington this summer. He is currently serving as senior resident. Upon graduation and completion of the residency program, Dr. Waliszewski plans on returning home to Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Once there he hopes to teach full-time for several years at Marquette University before entering full-time private practice. An OKU member since 2002, Dr. Waliszewski is honored to be the first recipient of the David H. Wands fellowship in prosthodontics.
Dr. Wands is a Life Member of the Pacific Coast Society for Prosthodontics and has established two fellowship programs at two Universities. The second place winner was Dr. Rosario Palacios. She received her D.D.S. from the School of Dentistry, "Universidad Nacional de San Marcos", University of San Marcos) Lima, Peru in July 1998. She is completing her 3rd year of the Residency Program at the University of Washington, Seattle. After Graduation Dr. Palacios would like to work in Private Practice and teach part time at the Dental School.
The graduate competition and joint sponsored recognition program was the cooperative effort between the Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry Editorial Council Chair, Dr. Brien Lang and the 2004 President and Executive Council of the PCSP. Support and funding for the program has been committed for a period of five years.
