2006 PCSP Meeting in Portland
Scientific Program: Diagnosis and Communication The Keys to Prosthodontic Success
The theme of the 2006 annual meeting was selected to place emphasis on the basic core skill in prosthodontics, diagnosis. The program will provide a comprehensive update on current, state-of-the-art techniques and materials but with an added emphasis on the understanding of the underlying conditions that will lead to the selection of the correct treatment.
Just as in medicine, the key to a
successful treatment outcome is to correctly diagnose the condition or conditions
that a patient presents. Utilizing
the finest of techniques and state-of-the-art materials may produce an immediate
esthetic result but the definition of success is the long term performance of a
restoration over many years of a patient’s life. This long term success will only happen if the diagnosis was correct and the appropriate treatment was delivered. In complex prosthodontic rehabilitations, multidisciplinary treatment is essential to correct multiple problems. Again, accurate diagnosis in each of the team member’s specialty areas as well as good communication and sequencing of treatment steps will lead to superior results.
The program features diagnostic and
treatment planning insights from leading clinicians in the fields of
prosthodontics, orthodontics, periodontics, oral and maxillofacial surgery,
implantology, oral-facial pain management, microscope enhanced dentistry, and
dental technology. In addition,
there will be presentations on the latest research in dental luting agents,
resin based restoratives, and ceramics.
Some of the featured speakers and their tentative topics are: Drs. Frank Spear, Vincent Kokich, Sr., and David Mathews. This Northwest team consisting of a prosthodontist, orthodontist, and periodontist are all highly regarded internationally as some the most outstanding speakers in their areas. They will close the meeting on Saturday with their joint presentation on interdisciplinary communication and coordination in the delivery of the state-of-the-art prosthodontic rehabilitation.
Presentations will take place from 8 am to 1 pm, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. FEATURED
